If you print postage and label packages at your home, you may be wondering how to schedule a pickup of your package during the COVID-19 pandemic, so you don't need to leave your home. You can schedule package pickups and be sorted without even leaving foot outside of your home with these methods.

Method 1

Method 1 of 3:

Scheduling on the Mobile App

  1. 1

Open up the official USPS app on your device. The app is a mostly white USPS flying eagle on a navy background. Underneath this, you'll find the title USPS Mobile on most devices.

    • If you don't own an iPhone or Android device, you may want to try scheduling via the website instead.
    • The iPhone version doesn't require a login. However, you'll get an email "receipt" at the end of the scheduling process and at the time of the pickup.
  2. 2

Tap on "Schedule Pickup." For most devices, it'll be on a keypad-like 3x3 set up, and it'll be at the bottom center button between Zip Codes and Hold Mail.

  3. 3

Tap the "Schedule a New Pickup" button. You'll find this button at the top of the screen below the "Schedule a Pickup|USPS" title bar.

  4. 4

Type in the pickup address - including your first and last names, street address, city, state, and ZIP code, as well as the phone number and email. If the address is a contact card on your device, you can tap the "Add from Contacts" button near the screen's top right corner.

  5. 5

Tap the "Confirm Address" to proceed. This button is at the bottom of the screen, and you will need to complete this form in its entirety.

  6. 6

Fill out the form details from the "Next Available Pickup" section. Tell the USPS where to find these packages. In the drop-down list, you'll find: In/At Mailbox, On the Porch, Front Door, Back Door, Side Door, Knock on Door/Ring Bell, Mail Room, Office, Reception, and Other (additional instructions required).

    • Fill out the Additional instructions box if you selected Other and explain where these packages will be found. Once you select Other, the box will show - otherwise, it's hidden.
  7. 7

Select whether there's a dog at the address. USPS may prefill this based on your carrier's observations. If the answer is incorrect or has recently changed, tap the "Edit" and select the right answer, and tap "Continue."

  8. 8

Type into each box how many packages of each type the USPS is picking up. As you type, the tool will total the packages up. Enter the information for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, First-Class Package Service, Returns, and International. The "Other" selections box is disabled by default.

  9. 9

Enter the total package weight totaled over all your packages combined into the box to the right of "Estimate the total weight in pounds." Follow the note to enter this is rounding to the nearest pound.

  10. 10

Agree to the terms of use statement every time you use this Scheduling tool. Click the "Checkbox" once you've perused the Terms and Conditions page and have knowledge of what's in the Statement link provided. The Statement says that the packages will be left in a secure location and that the USPS has no responsibility for lost packages and service delays for insufficient postage, incorrect addressing, or similar.

  11. 11

Schedule your pickup. Tap the Schedule Pickup box at the bottom of the screen.

Method 2

Method 2 of 3:

Scheduling on the Mobile Website

  1. 1

Open your mobile web browser to the mobile-formatted USPS website.

  2. 2

Scroll down past the banner. The banner talks about USPS Informed Delivery - until you get to the nine buttons in a three by three buttons square.

  3. 3

Tap the "Schedule a Pickup" button. You will find this button in the bottom right corner of the three by 3 square. Its icon looks like a lockbox with a timer.

  4. 4

Fill in your pickup details. The minimum you'll need to fill in to proceed is your First and Last Name, Street Address, City, State, ZIP Code, Phone, and Email.

    • For faster service, the USPS even advises its users to log into their USPS accounts.
  5. 5

Tap the "Check Availability" button at the bottom of the page.

  6. 6

Tell the USPS if there is a dog at this address. On the mobile webpage - unlike all the other methods - these details aren't compiled by the USPS, and you'll need to fill this information in. Tap either the "Yes, there is a dog at this address" or "No, there isn't a dog at this address" option - then tap the "Next Step" button.

  7. 7

Fill in Step 2. Select the location of your packages from the "Location of your packages" drop-down link. Available choices are: In/At Mailbox, On the Porch, Front Door, Back Door, Side Door, Knock on Door, Ring Bell, Mail Room, Office, Reception, Other (additional instructions required). Once you are finished, tap "Next Step" at the bottom of the screen.

    • If you've selected Other, you'll need to fill in the explanation of where in the "Enter any additional instructions" box below the "Location..." drop-down box.
  8. 8

Tap how you want the pickup to be handled - in Step 3. Much like all the others, you'll need to select whether you want a pickup during your regular mail delivery, or for a cost of $25, you can schedule a pickup at a specific time.

  9. 9

Pick the date from the calendar after the tool scrolls your page down and opens their calendar.

  10. 10

Tap the "Next Step" button at the bottom of the screen to proceed to USPS's Step 4 screen.

  11. 11

Indicate how many of each package is being picked up. You will need to indicate how many packages for Priority Mail Express(r), Priority Mail(r), First-Class Package Service(r), Returns, International, and/or Other. Type the number of packages into these boxes and tab down.

  12. 12

Fill in the "Estimate the total weight" field. Total up and estimate how much weight the packages are, then enter this into the field.

  13. 13

Agree to the terms of use statement - every time you use this Scheduling tool. Click the "Checkbox" once you've read the attestation. This says that the packages will be left in a secure location and that the USPS has no eye for lost packages and service delays for insufficient postage, incorrect addressing, or similar.

  14. 14

Click the "Schedule a pickup" button below this Terms statement.

Method 3

Method 3 of 3:

Scheduling on the USPS Website

  1. 1

Open your web browser to the USPS website found [1] and log in - if necessary. Click the "Register/Sign in" button in the top right corner to begin the process. Enter your credentials in the form and sign in.

  2. 2

Hover over the Send link in the USPS toolbar then click "Schedule a Pickup". You will find this Send link to the right of the USPS title link/button at the top of the page - between Quick Tools and Receive.

  3. 3

Prepare the first page - the "Where should we pick up your package(s)?" page. Here you will fill in all the fields where the package or packages will be picked up. If you have an address stored in your USPS address book in your profile, these fields will be prefilled and you will just need to double-check these fields for accuracy. If not, you will have to fill them in each time. USPS wants your name and address and even phone number and email.

  4. 4

Click the "Check Availability" button at the bottom of the page to continue.

  5. 5

Make sure that the "dog warning" is verified. It's not provided on the initial page, but will be saved to your profile. If you have a dog, make sure to indicate using the USPS link just below the title (in all-caps) "Is there a dog at this address?" by clicking Edit and selecting the right choice. It may already be de-checked to "No, there isn't a dog at this address." but can be changed to "Yes, there is a dog at this address." by scrolling down.

  6. 6

Indicate where you'll be leaving the packages for pickup in the "Step 2: Where will you leave your package(s)?" area. Available choices are: In/At Mailbox, On the Porch, Front Door, Back Door, Side Door, Knock on Door, Ring Bell, Mail Room, Office, Reception, Other (additional instructions required). These choices are in a drop-down list underneath the label "Location of your packages." The next step will open once the instructions have been completed.

    • Step 3 will display for Other, only when you fill that in, and press the Tab button on your keyboard.
  7. 7

Schedule the pickup time. Mail carriers can pick them up during their mail delivery route or at a specific time. During their mail route costs you nothing, but specific times will cost you $25 to get a Postal employee to pick these packages up. Click the radio checkbox to either "Pick up during regular mail delivery." or "Pick up at a specific time."

  8. 8

Pick the date when these packages can be picked up. If there are recurring pickups at a normal schedule, you can click the "Recurring pickup tool" and use the tool to schedule them. Click the actual date. USPS provides three monthly calendars for your use.

  9. 9

Indicate how many of each package is being picked up. You will need to indicate how many packages for Priority Mail Express(r), Priority Mail(r), First-Class Package Service(r), Returns, International, and/or Other. Type the number of packages into these boxes and tab down.

  10. 10

Fill in the "Estimate the total weight" field. Total up and estimate how much weight the total of the packages is, then enter this into the field.

    • USPS has left a note below this field saying that these packages must be already postage-paid by you (only via labels - no small stamps on packages bigger than 10 oz) and that each package must not weigh more than 70 pounds or be no bigger than 130 inches (about 10 feet) in any direction.
  11. 11

Agree to the terms of use statement - each and every time you use this Scheduling tool. Click the "Checkbox" once you've read the attestation. This just says that the packages will be left in a secure location and that the USPS has no eye for lost packages, as well as service delays for insufficient postage, incorrect addressing, or similar.

  12. 12

Click the "Schedule a pickup" button below this Terms statement.
