What does the name Ryokugyu mean? ›

Aramaki, more commonly known by his alias Ryokugyu (アラマキ meaning Green Bull), is a major antagonist in the manga/anime series One Piece.

As a Marine Admiral, Ryokugyu is a highly skilled Haki user.

Admittedly, the King and Queen that Ryokugyu annihilated were not even remotely comparable to their full-power selves, sparking a debate about how the fight would have ended had they been healthy. Ryokugyu crushed both of them easily, and without exerting himself at all.

The Mori Mori no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that grants the power to create, control, and transform into flora at will, making the user a Forest Human (森人間, Mori Ningen^?, English adaptations: "Woodsman"). It was eaten by Aramaki, better known as Admiral Ryokugyu.

Admirals like Ryokugyu, Fujitora, Kizaru, and Sakazuki are all much stronger than Zoro, with unique abilities and immense power. Characters like Mihawk, Blackbeard, Shanks, Luffy, and Monkey D. Dragon are also stronger than Zoro, with abilities and bounties that surpass him.

As the current Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Akainu is quite literally Ryokugyu's superior. Ryokugyu would never go out of his way to fight Akainu because of his admiration for the Fleet Admira, but if they were to fight, there is no way Ryokugyu would survive the power of Akainu's Devil Fruit.

Though not all gain traction, one frequently talked about theory is the idea that the admiral 'Green Bull' Ryokugyu is actually Shimotsuki Ushimaru, a legendary samurai from Wano. This theory also suggests that Ryokugyu is actually Zoro's father.

One Piece episode 1082 continues the battle between Akazaya Nine along with Momonosuke and Yamato against Admiral Ryokugyu who wants to capture Luffy. The cowardly Ryokugyu can match them all with his Logia ability.

Luffy is now Yonko level, something beyond an Admiral. Jinbe, Zoro and Sanji are at the same level as the admirals. Honestly, even the weakest of the crew wouldn't be easily defeated. Ryokugyu had no chances from the very start.

Again, like all of the Admirals, his face is inspired by a classic Japanese actor. In his case, he's likely based on acclaimed actor and singer Harada Yoshio.

Some of the most powerful and memorable villains include Kaku, King, Queen, Bartholomew Kuma, Ryokugyu, Caesar, Smoker, Arlong, Kizaru, and Aokiji. Each villain has their own unique strengths and weaknesses, but all of them have managed to captivate the audience and contribute to the overall quality of the series.

Shanks, in particular, was easily able to sense the person who was on the island and he decided to retaliate. When he realized that Green Bull was not going to stop and was hell-bent on destroying the young generation that were now tired after fighting against Kaido, Shanks decided to take things into his own hands.
